We’re Illustrated!
Irina Kovalova is a freelance concept artist and illustrator for Thorn of The Foretold. She is currently living and working in Glasgow and has worked on a number of illustrations and concept designs both for private clients and companies. Among them is a children’s dark, but whimsical book “Charlotte, Wander On” that is recently in the process of getting funded through Kickstarter as well and one that I have personally pledged too… really, it’s pretty cool. I was blown away by the art in Charlotte, Wander On and knew that Irina was the artist I needed to bring my own book to life. After a little web searching, friend requests and emails later she is now a part of my team. My ultimate goal is to have Irina illustrate large sections of the book to help me create an in depth experience for both the young and old.
About Thorn of The Foretold?
Far into the future mankind buried under plates that cover the earth and meant to restore nature to its former glory, gleaming cities of technology while they attempted to master the arcane discipline of magic. Generations have passed away since thegreat exodus, and those to whom the cities were left have forgotten their legacy, as it has faded into myth and legend. Forgotten, that is, until a king bent on expanding the reach of his power discovers a powerful technology left behind.
The fabric of space and time is threatened when King Julius invades neighboring dimensions in a never-ending circle of conquest. Using dimensional gates, a long-forgotten construct made using the ancient discipline of science, King Julius uses his war mages and armies to crush any who oppose him. Yet no matter how far he travels, the legend of the foretold greets his ears and threatens to end his plans, and life.
Unbeknownst to the king, the foretold, a child named Thomas, was saved from death by his own confidant and general, Ge’Daheen. While King Julius marches across dimensions to establish his rule, Ge’Daheen organizes the rebellion, waiting for the day the foretold is strong enough to help them overthrow the king.
Waiting in the background to take their places next to Thomas, two individuals out of time lend their guidance and support to help him come to terms with his destiny. The Wolf, an enigmatic voice from the past who reaches forward from the dust to he lp Thomas in his most dire times of need, and Thorn, the living embodiment of a wild animal and a fierce protector.
Thorn of The Foretold takes place in a world where magic is king and science is a rediscovered novelty from a forgotten past. Read about a king who has discovered ancient secrets and corrupts them to attain immortality and subjugate all he looks upon. Follow a young man who has power thrust upon him as he struggles to understand the difference between choice and foreordination as a voice from the past helps lead him to save all that ever was or will be. Discover a love that even time and space cannot hold back. It is in this world that readers will learn of The Foretold.
